The Marbella City Council has launched 'Digital Summer', a free programme of programming, robotics and artificial intelligence workshops for children aged 9 to 14, which will take place in various districts during July and August.
The Marbella City Council has launched 'Digital Summer', a programme of free workshops aimed at children between 9 and 14 years old. The initiative, which will be held during July and August at different locations in the municipality, aims to provide an educational and recreational alternative during the summer, with activities in programming, robotics, artificial intelligence and 3D design.
Practical workshops in small groups
The Councillor for Innovation, Enrique Rodríguez, presented the programme accompanied by the General Director of the area, Baldomero León, and the head of Logiscool, Sabi Borsos. As Rodríguez explained, the workshops will last for four days each, from Monday to Thursday in the morning, with groups of a maximum of 15 students to ensure personalised attention.
The activities will be taught by local companies Logiscool, Mainjobs and Robonautas, which will develop three training proposals: Maker Campus, focused on programming, robotics, applications and 3D design; Digital Campus, dedicated to programming, 3D design and artificial intelligence; and Creative AI Campus, focused on content creation using artificial intelligence.
Baldomero León emphasised the importance of children acquiring digital skills and learning to navigate safely. “It is essential that they learn about cybersecurity and safe internet navigation,” he stated.
Six sessions in different districts
The programme will take place in six sessions spread throughout the municipality. The first will be held from 20 to 23 July at the Rosa Verde Cultural Centre in San Pedro Alcántara. This will be followed by sessions from 27 to 30 July at the Multi-Purpose Room of the Nueva Andalucía District, and from 3 to 6 August at Marbellaup (Paco Ostos Street).
In August, activities will continue from 10 to 13 at the Rosa Verde Cultural Centre, from 17 to 20 again at Marbellaup, and will conclude from 24 to 27 at the Tenencia de Alcaldía of Las Chapas (Pinsapo Street). The schedule will always be in the morning, facilitating family reconciliation during school holidays.
Free registrations from this Wednesday
Registrations, which are completely free, will open this Wednesday, 14 July, through the municipal website. Each session has limited places, so it is recommended to register as soon as possible. Children must be registered in Marbella.
Sabi Borsos, head of Logiscool, emphasised the programme's goal: “Our aim is for children to move from being passive consumers to becoming creators.” During the camps, participants will learn to develop websites and digital content using artificial intelligence to generate texts, images and videos.
Councillor Enrique Rodríguez reminded that the programme also includes transversal content on the responsible use of the internet and risk prevention in the digital environment. “We want our young people to take advantage of the summer to explore the future possibilities offered by new technologies,” he stated.
With this initiative, Marbella reinforces its commitment to technological training among the youngest, offering a free and quality alternative for the holidays. Interested families can check the details and register on the City Council's website starting tomorrow.
