The Marbella City Council has raised the sports grants for this year to 670,000 euros, with an increase in the competitive grant lines. The deadline to apply for the city’s grants is open until September 11.
The Marbella City Council has approved the calls for sports grants for this year, with a total allocation of 670,000 euros, as reported this Wednesday by the councillor in charge, Lisandro Vieytes, after the Local Government Board meeting.
The majority of this amount, 397,000 euros, corresponds to the two competitive grant lines for the city of Marbella, which have seen their amounts increased compared to last year. Of this amount, 267,000 euros will be allocated to non-profit clubs and sports entities, and the remaining 130,000 euros to individual athletes or those competing in pairs.
The line for clubs has increased by 57,000 euros compared to 2025, when it had 210,000 euros. The amount for individual athletes or pairs has grown by 30%, rising from the 100,000 euros allocated the previous year to the current 130,000 euros, with a cap of 10,000 euros per beneficiary.
The application period for both lines in Marbella began on August 24 following its publication in the Official Provincial Bulletin (BOP) and will remain open for 15 working days, until September 11. The processing must be carried out exclusively through the municipal electronic headquarters.
On the other hand, San Pedro Alcántara has its own competitive grant call, endowed with 164,245 euros, the deadline for which ended on August 24 and has received 11 applications.
Vieytes highlighted “the direct financial support provided to both the entities and the competitors in the city to facilitate the development of their activities and their participation in various competitions.” The grants aim to support local clubs and athletes in their daily activities, from registration and travel expenses to the organisation of competitions, in a municipality with a wide range of grassroots and elite sports.
