Fuengirola's Plenary has unanimously approved recognitions for Local Police officers, including the Cross of Permanence for six officials for their 20 years of service.

The Plenary of the Town Hall of Fuengirola unanimously approved on 26 August 2026 the proposal for congratulations and rewards to members of the Local Police, presented by the councillor for Citizen Security, José Luis Ponce Martín.

The agreement includes the granting of the Cross of Permanence to six officials who have completed 20 years of service in the force. The distinguished are officer José Miguel Capote Cubero and police officers Ana Vanesa Aguilera Rama, Javier Fernández Marín, Francisco Javier García Jiménez, José Manuel Morales Cruz, and Rafael Recio Medina.

Additionally, the Plenary has supported several individual public congratulations for outstanding actions during the past year. One of these corresponds to the intervention on 27 August 2025 following the stabbing of a minor in Plaza de la Hispanidad. The rapid response allowed assistance to the victim, locating the alleged perpetrator in Los Boliches and detaining her, as well as finding the weapon allegedly used. For these events, recognition is given to sub-inspector José Manuel Subires Roca, officer Juan José Merchán Reyero, and police officers David Sánchez Sánchez, Pedro Hernández Guzmán, and Esteban Nalda Jiménez.

Another recognized action occurred on 3 November 2025, when two plainclothes officers detected a fire in a building on Calle Lope de Vega. They accessed the building and contained the flames affecting the door of a home, preventing greater damage. The subsequent investigation determined that the fire was set deliberately, and the alleged perpetrator was arrested. Police officer Carolina Albet Navarrete and officer José Manuel Morales Cruz receive congratulations.

Recognition is also given for the intervention on 24 January 2026 in a home on Calle Puebla Lucía, where a fire generated a large amount of smoke and flames. The rapid action, coordinated with the Fire Extinguishing Service, allowed the evacuation of two women and a septuagenarian man and prevented the spread of the fire. Additionally, the agents located the owner of a vehicle parked in front of the house to have it removed before it was damaged. For these events, police officer Marina Hernández Martín and officer Iván Mérida Conejo are recognized.

One of the most significant actions occurred on 16 July on the rooftop of a building on the Paseo Marítimo. A woman was in danger of falling. After activating emergency services, the agents maintained communication with her and, at an opportune moment, managed to secure her and bring her to safety, taking significant risks to their physical integrity. For this intervention, congratulations are awarded to officers Mariano Vicente Romero and Ana Rosa Verdugo Palma, and police officers Gema Ávila Martín, Vicente Barrionuevo Pérez, Sergio Campos Fuentes, José Antonio Fernández Barba, Juan Francisco Fernández Berrocal, Raúl García Navarro, Fernando Morillas Morillas, Antonio Peña Jáuregui, and Miguel Puertas Navas.

The agreement also recognizes citizen collaboration in an arrest on 19 February 2026 following a violent robbery on Avenida de Los Boliches, where a citizen followed the alleged perpetrator.

These recognitions highlight the professionalism, commitment, and service vocation of the agents, as well as their daily work in protecting the residents and visitors of Fuengirola.
