The Fuengirola City Council is repainting glass, packaging, and paper collection bins in Los Boliches, Los Pacos, and Miramar. Additionally, over a hundred have already been vinyl-wrapped with images of the city.
The Councillor for Cleaning, Carmen Díaz, and the Deputy Mayor of Los Boliches, Rosa Ana Bravo, presented the repainting of more than 300 bins for selective collection of glass, packaging, and paper and cardboard during a visit to Santa Ana Street in this neighbourhood.
As Díaz explained, this work is usually carried out from October onwards, once the Feria del Rosario has finished, and is currently taking place in numerous streets of Los Boliches, as well as in Los Pacos and Miramar.
“We are working in numerous streets of Los Boliches, as well as in the areas of Los Pacos and Miramar. These are periodic maintenance tasks that help improve the image of our ecological islands and keep these daily-use spaces in good condition,” the councillor stated.
In addition to repainting, the bins are being vinyl-wrapped with representative images of the city. Before the summer, more than one hundred bins were intervened, and the City Council has prepared a new phase to decorate another one hundred collection points in the coming weeks.
On another note, the City Council is implementing an additional plan to eliminate persistent stains on approximately 20,000 square meters of municipal roads. The work is currently taking place on a section of the Paseo Marítimo and will continue afterwards in squares and other public spaces.
The Mayor, Ana Mula, recently announced the renovation and commissioning of around twenty ecological islands distributed throughout the municipality. This action has a budget of €594,158.40 and an execution period of 106 calendar days.
The works will allow for the recovery of facilities that have been out of service due to breakdowns, deterioration, or damage from storms and proximity to the sea. Among them are some of the oldest islands, located around the Paseo Marítimo.
“These maintenance and beautification works are essential for Los Boliches and the rest of our neighbourhoods to present a tidy and well-kept image. We want Fuengirola to remain a clean and pleasant city for both residents and visitors,” Bravo indicated.
The Deputy Mayor urged residents to use the waste collection points and ecological islands correctly to keep them in good condition.
