The construction of the Alberto Díaz sports pavilion in Alhaurín de la Torre has begun to raise the metal structure of the venue. The building, dedicated to basketball, will have fixed seating for around 350 people.
The works on the ‘Alberto Díaz Sports Pavilion’ in Alhaurín de la Torre have entered the phase of installing the large metal structure that will serve as the framework for the venue. The Department of Sports has already completed the foundation platform.
The Sports Councillor, Sergio Cortés, and municipal technicians have visited the site to supervise the work. The pavilion, whose cornerstone was laid by Alberto Díaz himself, will be dedicated to basketball.
The contract was awarded in March to the Málaga-based company A7GR Servicios y Obras, with a bid of €2,264,676.54 (€2.7 million including VAT). The Town Hall and the Málaga Provincial Council are co-financing the investment.
The building will occupy an area of nearly 3,900 square meters, of which more than 1,700 correspond to the main building. The central court measures 45 by 24 meters and will allow for the creation of three cross courts and one longitudinal court, to accommodate matches and training sessions.
It will feature dividing curtains, changing rooms, separate access for athletes, technical staff, and the public, and fixed seating for 350 people expandable with additional seating. The exterior parking will have 25 spaces, one of which will be accessible and another with an electric charging point.
The plot is located between Avenida Santa Clara and Calle Santa Bárbara, with access to Calle Santa Marina de Jesús. Pedestrian access will be from Avenida Santa Clara and vehicle access from Calle Santa Bárbara.
The new facility will host local basketball clubs and strengthen the existing agreement with Unicaja, which stipulates that Alhaurín de la Torre will be the venue for its U22 youth team matches. According to the Sports Area, it will be the fourth covered pavilion in the municipality, following those of El Limón, Blas Infante, and Carranque.
