The Town Hall of Fuengirola opens registrations on September 1 for the 2026/2027 Reading Clubs, with 28 proposals for all ages and tastes.
The Town Hall of Fuengirola, through the Culture department, has presented the new edition of the 2026/2027 Reading Clubs, which this year brings together 28 proposals designed for different ages, interests, and reading profiles. Registrations for the first period will open on September 1 at 10:00 AM and will close on September 6 at 11:59 PM.
The Councillor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, highlighted that this initiative turns reading into a shared experience and a meeting point for residents. “The clubs not only serve to discuss books, discover authors, or exchange opinions. They are also spaces for socializing, meeting new people, forming relationships, and creating bonds around a common hobby,” he noted.
Among the new offerings this term are CL El Faro, CL El Boquetillo, and CL Capítulo Cero, dedicated to contemporary narrative and its classics; CL Dare to Read, for those wanting to start the reading habit; CL Pages of Horror, about fear in literature; and CL LIJ without Age, aimed at adults interested in children's and young adult literature.
Also continuing is CL Passengers' Readings, with a coordinator and a different genre each month. This club offers 10 fixed places (registration in September and participation until June) and 5 free places for those wishing to participate for just one month, with monthly registration and copies available through the e-Biblio platform.
The offering is completed with clubs for Film, Music, and Poetry, which can be combined with another reading club. Registrations will be made on the website of the Public Libraries Network of Andalusia (www.bibliotecaspublicas.es/fuengirola) and selection will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each person may register for only one club, except in the cases of Film, Music, Poetry, and Passengers' Readings, which can be added to another. On September 10, a second period will open for free places, both for new interested parties and for those wanting a second club; forms will automatically close when places are filled.
To participate, it is necessary to have the Public Libraries Network of Andalusia card, respect the rules, and return books on time. Attendance is mandatory: more than two unexcused absences will result in losing the place. Each club requires a minimum of five people; if someone registers for multiple clubs, only the last application counts.
Romero has encouraged the residents of Fuengirola to participate and emphasized that reading “can become a way to share, meet other people, and build community.”
