The Estepona City Council has initiated the second phase of the climate control plan for educational centres, with 35 new units and an investment of 64,000 euros. The work will conclude before the 2026-2027 school year.

The Estepona City Council has launched the second phase of the climate control plan for the city's educational centres, which includes the installation of 35 cooling and heating units in eleven schools and nurseries. The project, which has already begun, involves an investment of 64,000 euros and is expected to be completed before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

The work focuses on the schools Valeriano López, Víctor de la Serna, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Santo Tomás de Aquino, Gloria Fuertes, and Ramón García, as well as the municipal nurseries Los Pitufos, El Mar, and Calancha. This was explained by the councillor assigned to the Education area, María Aguilar.

The councillor noted that this action continues the climate control plan promoted by the City Council to progressively equip classrooms that do not yet have cooling, ventilation, and heating systems. In the first phase, 60,000 euros were allocated, and now "we are continuing to advance so that our educational centres have appropriate temperature and comfort conditions for students and teachers, especially during the months of higher temperatures," she added.

"Our commitment is to continue incorporating these systems where necessary and to keep improving the facilities of the public educational centres in the city."

The councillor highlighted that the goal is to improve classroom conditions and ensure that students and teachers can carry out their activities in a more comfortable environment. The action will directly benefit the families of Estepona, who will see their children studying in spaces with a more suitable temperature throughout the year.

The plan responds to the needs identified in the public centres of the municipality, especially during the summer months when high temperatures hinder concentration in classrooms. The expectation is that the work will be completed before the next school year begins, so that the new installations will be operational from the first day of class.
