Ronda Town Hall has ordered the precautionary closure of the underground car park at the Plaza del Socorro following a report from the Firefighters' Consortium highlighting serious deficiencies.

The Provincial Consortium of Firefighters (CPB) of Málaga has issued a report that reveals the deficit of safety and accessibility of the underground car park at the Plaza del Socorro in Ronda. The severity of the deficiencies detected has led the Ronda Town Hall to decree the immediate and precautionary closure of the facilities, which are managed by a private company.

The municipal decision comes after an increase in complaints from users, mainly focused on accessibility and, in particular, on the malfunctioning of the lift. In response to these complaints, the Town Hall conducted an inspection and granted the concessionaire a deadline for rectification that, according to municipal sources, was not met.

The process continued with the intervention of the firefighters, whose technical report has determined the need for urgent action. Now, the managing company must fully rectify the issues highlighted in the document in order to reopen the car park.

In the meantime, residents and visitors who used this car park will need to seek alternatives in the centre of Ronda, where parking is limited. The Town Hall has not yet specified the estimated timelines for the works or the expected duration of the closure.
