The Local Government Board approves the project for works at the Cristóbal Guerrero Covered Sports Centre, with an investment of 696,903.44 euros. The works will begin at the end of this year or the beginning of the next.
The City Council of Ronda will allocate 696,903.44 euros for the repair of the Cristóbal Guerrero Covered Sports Centre, located in the San Francisco neighbourhood. The mayor, Mari Paz Fernández, announced this on Tuesday after presiding over the Local Government Board, which approved the project.
According to the Sports Councillor, Nardi Crespo, the building has damp issues due to problems with the roofs and structure. Crespo visited the facilities on Wednesday and explained that the renovation will be comprehensive.
“It will practically allow us to have brand new facilities,” said Nardi Crespo.
The planned actions include repairing the roofs and structural issues, as well as renewing the flooring of the main court, the restrooms, and the changing rooms. The motors for the basketball courts, electrical and insulation systems, and windows will also be replaced. Additionally, an elevator will be installed to service the three floors.
The works are expected to start at the end of this year or the beginning of the next and will last, in principle, for a year. Meanwhile, activities of the Municipal Sports Area, clubs, and the Fernando de los Ríos school, of the Unicaja Ronda Foundation, will be relocated with minimal impact on users.
