Estepona City Council has put out to tender the renovation works for the six bathrooms in the west wing of CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino, with a budget of 114,279.28 euros. This action is part of a plan to improve educational centres that exceeds 800,000 euros this year.
Estepona City Council has put out to tender the comprehensive renovation works for the bathrooms in the west wing of CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino, with a base budget of 114,279.28 euros (including VAT). The intervention will affect the six bathrooms distributed across the three floors of the building, with male and female bathrooms on each floor.
The works include the complete demolition of the current bathrooms and the renewal of flooring, tiling, partitioning, carpentry, sanitary ware, and plumbing, sanitation, and electrical installations. New false ceilings and forced air extraction systems will also be installed, and the old asbestos cement sanitation pipes will be removed, according to the City Council.
The councillor responsible for the Education area, María Aguilar, explained that these facilities have deficiencies mainly due to their age, so the renovation aims to adapt them to the current needs of the centre. She also recalled that the replacement of the flooring in the external galleries is already underway at the same school, with an investment of 32,075 euros.
This action is part of the municipal programme for the improvement and modernisation of educational facilities, which this year includes a historic investment of over 800,000 euros. According to Aguilar, extensive works are being carried out in 18 educational centres in the city, including schools and nurseries, in addition to the usual maintenance work during holiday periods.
The councillor also highlighted the Climate Control Plan, with an investment of 130,000 euros, which is allowing the installation of around a hundred air conditioning and heating units in classrooms. The works at CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino are part of this package of actions aimed at providing more functional and comfortable spaces for students and the educational community.
The City Council has not specified the start date for the works, which will depend on the awarding of the tender, but the renovation of the bathrooms adds to the improvements already being made at the centre for the upcoming school year.
