The Estepona Town Hall has initiated the second phase of the climate control plan for schools and nurseries, with 35 new units and an investment of €64,000.

The Estepona Town Hall has launched the second phase of the climate control plan for the city’s educational centres, which includes the installation of 35 new cooling and heating units. The project, budgeted at €64,000, aims to improve the thermal comfort of classrooms throughout the year.

Work has already begun and, as explained by the councillor for Education, María Aguilar, the goal is to complete it before the start of the next school year. This way, the centres will have the new systems from the first day of class.

This phase will benefit the schools Valeriano López, Víctor de la Serna, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Santo Tomás de Aquino, Gloria Fuertes, and Ramón García, as well as the municipal nursery schools Los Pitufos, El Mar, and Calancha.

The councillor noted that this initiative continues the plan implemented by the Town Hall to progressively equip classrooms that still lack cooling, ventilation, and heating systems. "We are continuing to advance so that our educational centres have suitable temperature and comfort conditions for students and teachers, especially during the months of higher temperatures," she added.

In the first phase of this plan, the Town Hall already installed around fifty units with an investment of €60,000. With this second phase, it continues to address the needs identified in various centres across the city.

Additionally, Aguilar reminded that the Town Hall has made a historic investment of over €800,000 to improve 18 educational centres, including schools and nurseries. The actions include the complete renovation of bathrooms and outdoor galleries, improvements to playgrounds and sports courts, refurbishment of stands and walls, and renewal of coverings and flooring.

Laminate flooring is also being installed in classrooms and safety flooring in playgrounds. The goal is to create safer and more functional facilities for the educational community.
