The Estepona Town Hall allocates a historic amount to renovation works in schools and nurseries, including floors, bathrooms, patios, and air conditioning.
The Estepona Town Hall is executing a historic investment of over 800,000 euros this year for improvement works in the city's educational centres, affecting 18 schools and nurseries. The works, which complement the usual maintenance activities carried out during holiday periods, aim to transform these spaces to make them safer, more functional, and adapted to the needs of the educational community.
The councillor assigned to the Education and Childhood delegation, María Aguilar, has detailed that the actions include everything from small repairs in electricity, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry to large-scale works. Among the latter, the complete replacement of the flooring in the outdoor galleries of CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino stands out, with an investment of 32,075 euros to renew 295 square metres, as well as a comprehensive renovation of the bathrooms in this centre, which has a budget of 114,279.28 euros.
At CEIP Isdabe del Mar, 42,108 euros have been allocated to concrete 880 square metres of the infant playground, while at CEIP Nuestra Señora del Carmen, 280 square metres of tiled cladding on the second floor have been demolished (28,435 euros) and the bleachers in the playground and the walls are being renovated (45,797 euros). Also, at CEIP Ramón García, a bleacher has been installed on the sports court, costing 8,409.50 euros.
The councillor also highlighted the installation of laminate flooring in nine classrooms of the schools María Espinosa, Antonio Machado, and the Cancelada Nursery, an action that has cost over 47,000 euros. Additionally, nearly 76,000 euros have been allocated for safety flooring in the infant playgrounds of CEIP Sierra Bermeja, Valeriano López, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and Gloria Fuertes, as well as in the Municipal Nursery El Mar.
Another significant allocation is the Climate Control Plan, with an investment of 130,000 euros, which is allowing the installation of around a hundred air conditioning and heating units in classrooms to improve thermal conditions throughout the year. These improvements not only affect the comfort of students and teachers but also represent long-term energy savings for the centres.
With this investment plan, the Estepona Town Hall reaffirms its commitment to the quality of public education in the municipality. The works, which are being carried out throughout the year, have a direct impact on families and the daily lives of schoolchildren, who will benefit from more modern and safer facilities.
Councillor María Aguilar has pointed out that these actions will have a positive impact for the coming decades and respond to the municipal objective of providing public schools of the highest quality. The works continue in the various centres and are expected to be completed in the coming months.
