The Plenary gives the green light to 8.38 million from treasury surplus. The finance councillor highlights that investments have tripled compared to 2022.

The Plenary of the Benalmádena City Council approved on Thursday a credit supplement of 8,381,215 euros financed with the treasury surplus for general expenses. The measure was passed with the support of the governing team, while PSOE, Vox, and IU abstained.

The Councillor for Economy and Finance, José Miguel Muriel, argued that the supplement "allows us to continue transforming Benalmádena with useful investments for residents, without increasing the fiscal burden and thanks to responsible economic management." The councillor emphasized that the municipality has tripled investments compared to 2022, with over 40 million executed so far in this legislative term.

Among the planned actions are improvements in Parque Innova, the adaptation of premises for rehearsals and youth activities, and the reorganisation of Avenida de Las Palmeras and Avenida de los Argonautas. New smart showers on the beaches, bus bays and platforms for bus shelters, as well as traffic calming measures and repairs to the Arroyo de la Miel Library are also included.

The supplement also includes allocations for cleaning the municipality and the sanitation of the Torremar, Capellanía, and Higuerón urbanisations, new elements for children's and biosaludable areas, and improvements to sports facilities. It also acknowledges the payment of outstanding invoices amounting to 386,825 euros.

Muriel highlighted that the "good economic health" of the City Council allows for investment boosts "without resorting to debt," consolidating a management model based on "responsibility, financial stability, and planning." The works will be carried out over the coming months across various municipal departments.
