Estepona grants a premises to the AECC to ensure 20 years of oncological care

The Estepona Town Hall grants the AECC a premises on Terraza street for 20 years to ensure free care for cancer patients and their families.

The Estepona Town Hall has granted the Spanish Association Against Cancer a premises at 170 Terraza Street for a period of twenty years. The headquarters will allow for the continuation of free care for patients and their families.

The Estepona Town Hall has formalised the transfer to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) of a municipal premises located at 170 Terraza Street. The agreement, which will last for twenty years, aims to ensure the continuity of the services that the entity provides in the municipality.

The Councillor for Social Integration and Social Services, María Aguilar, explained that the building has three adapted rooms for the development of care activities. From this headquarters, the association offers free care to cancer patients and their families.

Among the services that will be maintained are psychological support, social care, physiotherapy, and hospital and home accompaniment, as detailed by the president of the AECC in Estepona, Julia Crespo. Throughout the year, workshops and activities aimed at improving the physical and emotional well-being of those affected are also organised.

The provincial president of the AECC, Juan Carlos Martín, valued the transfer as support for the work that the entity carries out in the locality. For her part, Aguilar emphasised that the Town Hall maintains a strong commitment to social entities that provide essential services to residents.

“This transfer represents support for the important work carried out by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Estepona and ensures that it can continue to develop its activity in suitable facilities to care for patients and families,” said the councillor.

With this agreement, the City Council reinforces its collaboration with a reference entity in the comprehensive care of cancer patients and in supporting their families. It also highlights its work in prevention, awareness, and research against cancer.

The transfer is part of the municipal policy of support for associations in the municipality, facilitating spaces that allow for improved care for residents who need it most. The new headquarters guarantees the continuity of a service that directly benefits the patients of Estepona and its surroundings.
