The event, which will take place on August 30 in Mijas Pueblo, already has around a hundred registered participants. The deadline to sign up ends on August 26.
The 46th edition of the Mijas Fair Race is set for August 30, starting at 10:00 AM, with the start and finish line at the Virgen de la Peña square. The event, organised by the Amigos del Atletismo association and the Mijas Town Hall, will have a maximum quota of 500 bib numbers, of which around a hundred have already been filled.
The Councillor for Sports, Mª Francisca Alarcón, presented the competition on Tuesday alongside the coaches of the Mijas Athletics Club, Francisco Marín and José Manuel Cerezo. Alarcón highlighted that this is one of the most prestigious events on the local sports calendar and is designed for the whole family, with categories ranging from prebenjamín to master.
Participants will run through the most emblematic streets of Mijas Pueblo, with a course adapted to each category. All athletes will share the start and finish point at the Virgen de la Peña square, as explained by Marín. In addition to trophies for the winners, the youngest participants will receive a medal for taking part, and prizes will be raffled among attendees.
The registration period is open at www.dorsalchip.es until August 26 at 23:59. 50 bib numbers will be reserved for the day of the race, in case anyone prefers to sign up at the last minute.
The Fair Race marks the beginning of the sports season in the municipality and brings together residents and visitors of all ages each year. For local runners, it is an opportunity to kick off the athletic year in a unique setting like the historic centre of Mijas.
