The Global Gift Foundation has delivered an all-terrain wheelchair to Nicolás Fernández, a minor from San Pedro Alcántara who suffers from a brain tumour. The new equipment will allow him to traverse paths and promenades safely.
Nicolás Fernández, a boy from San Pedro Alcántara battling a brain tumour, can now enjoy the outdoors again. The Global Gift Foundation has provided him with an adapted wheelchair designed for uneven terrain, enabling him to accompany his family to the countryside and the beach.
The new equipment, made from lightweight and durable materials, features highly stable wheels and postural support systems. This allows Nicolás to tackle rural paths, promenades, and parks with greater autonomy and safety.
A chair to regain normality
The delivery took place at Casa Ángeles, the multifunctional centre of the foundation where Nicolás attends daily for his rehabilitation therapies. There, the president of Global Gift, María Bravo, highlighted that the wheelchair restores his ability to do what he loves most: enjoy nature.
“Nicolás hadn’t been able to enjoy walks in the countryside or by the sea for some time. Thanks to this wheelchair, he can relive those experiences,” Bravo noted. The young boy, who loves outdoor activities, debuted the vehicle at a charity race in Málaga in support of the Olivares Foundation.
The family's emotion
Damián Fernández, Nicolás's father, explained that for months they had to give up many activities because the previous wheelchair was not suitable for certain terrains. “This new wheelchair will allow him to join us on walks in the countryside and enjoy the promenade, experiences that are everyday for many families,” he stated.
For the residents of San Pedro Alcántara, this news represents an example of solidarity and overcoming challenges. The adapted wheelchair not only improves Nicolás's mobility but also opens up a world of possibilities alongside his loved ones.
The Global Gift Foundation, known for its social projects, continues its work supporting children with serious illnesses. In this case, technology is being used to enhance quality of life, allowing a child to smile outdoors once again.
