Mexican singer Carlos Rivera has been awarded the 'Global Gift Humanitarian Award' during the charity gala held by the Global Gift Foundation in Marbella, in an event presented by Iván Sánchez and Lorena Bernal.
The Mexican singer and songwriter Carlos Rivera has been distinguished with the 'Global Gift Humanitarian Award' during the charity gala organised by the Global Gift Foundation each summer in Marbella. The recognition, presented at the fifteenth edition of the event, highlights his social commitment and humanitarian work, according to the founder of the entity, María Bravo.
Rivera, who has a wide international profile, received the award for his “extraordinary generosity” and his “firm commitment to various social causes.” The artist stated that the award “is an honour” that he assumes “with enormous responsibility” and emphasised that music has taught him that “the voice gains its true value when used to help others.”
The gala, which celebrated its fifteenth edition this year, was hosted by Spanish actor Iván Sánchez and model and presenter Lorena Bernal, Miss Spain 1999. The evening featured musical performances by Colombian artist Greeicy, Andalusian singer Melody, and Carlos Rivera himself, who performed the popular ranchera 'El Rey' by José Alfredo Jiménez.
One of the most emotional moments of the night was the presentation of the 'Women Empowerment Award' to activist and philanthropist Elsa Collins, for her advocacy for women, children, and migrant families. The awardee, visibly surprised, declared that the award “also belongs to all the women, families, and communities who fight every day to be heard, respected, and protected.”
Among the guests who attended the event, organised by Eva Longoria and María Bravo, were Mexican actor and singer Diego Boneta; former Canadian First Lady Sophie Grégoire Trudeau; and designer Vicky Martín Berrocal.
The gala is part of the Global Gift Philanthropic Weekend, a three-day programme that began on Friday at the Don Carlos Marbella hotel and will conclude this Sunday at the Nota Blu New Brasserie restaurant, run by ex-footballer Zazou Belounis.
The funds raised during the event will be allocated to projects of the Global Gift Foundation, such as Casa Ángeles Marbella, a day centre that offers therapies and inclusion programmes for children with special needs and support for their families. Casa Ángeles Vietnam will also benefit, where the organisation has been caring for over 100 minors since 2018, providing them with food, education, medical care, and a safe home.
The Marbella gala has established itself as a key annual event for philanthropy on the Costa del Sol, bringing together personalities from the entertainment, business, and charity sectors. The commitment of Rivera and Collins to social causes has been recognised by the foundation, which continues to promote aid projects in various parts of the globe.
