The VI Marbella Swimming Crossing will be held on Saturday 22 at El Cable beach with nearly 200 participants and a new rectangular route next to the iconic Torre del Cable.

El Cable beach will host the upcoming 22nd of June VI Marbella Swimming Crossing, an event that will bring together nearly 200 swimmers and will feature a new rectangular layout in front of the emblematic Torre del Cable.

The Councillor for Sports, Lisandro Vieytes, presented the competition this Tuesday alongside the advisor for the San Pedro Alcántara area, Javier Mérida, and the treasurer of the Club Natación Marbella, Elena Marín. Vieytes highlighted that the event "is gradually establishing itself in the city's summer calendar and reinforces our commitment to adapted and inclusive sports."

One of the main innovations will be the change of route: from the triangular shape of previous editions to a rectangle, which, according to the councillor, "will facilitate the movement of participants and the development of the crossing." The new itinerary will allow athletes to swim very close to the Torre del Cable, "one of the most iconic and well-known points in Marbella," Mérida emphasized.

The event maintains its accessible and inclusive nature. The program includes two distances for adults, 1,300 and 2,400 meters, the latter consisting of two laps of the circuit; a children’s crossing of 350 meters for the youngest, and a skills test of 100 meters for people with disabilities. Swimmers with disabilities will also be able to participate in any of the other distances.

Registrations will remain open until tomorrow at 14:00 hours, and the organizers hope to increase the number of participants before the deadline closes. Marín described the crossing as "a very popular event open to all people" and encouraged locals and visitors to come to El Cable beach on Saturday to enjoy the sporting atmosphere.

The security device will include the presence of Civil Protection and Firefighters, among other personnel. The event is supported by the MOS group and Playa Padre, which will provide its facilities as an operations center and supply materials for the day.
