The province of Málaga receives a significant boost this year in the agricultural sector thanks to an investment of 5.3 million euros aimed at young farmers and ranchers. The territorial delegate for Agriculture, Fishing, Water and Rural Development, Laura Soto, presented the details of these aids this morning.

Investment and Relevance of the Aids

During a visit to the olive farm of young farmer Pilar Bracho Lineros in Archidona, Soto highlighted that this initiative will allow the incorporation of 104 young people into the Málaga countryside. Bracho, 39, has received a grant of 54,500 euros to work on more than 23.7 hectares of organic and conventional olive groves.

The aids are part of the Strategic Plan of the CAP (PEPAC) 2023-2027, funded by European Feader funds. At the Andalusian level, 130 million euros are allocated, making this the largest aid call in the history of Andalucía.

Objectives and Benefits of the Aids

Laura Soto emphasized that the main objective of these aids is to ensure generational renewal in the agricultural sector, as well as to promote the creation of new rural businesses and modernize the countryside through innovation and technology. They are aimed at young people aged between 18 and 40, with grants ranging from 30,000 to 80,000 euros per beneficiary.

A highlighted aspect by the delegate is the positive impact on the incorporation of women into the agricultural sector. Of the 1.9 million euros allocated to Málaga, 15 million at the Andalusian level are specifically reserved for women. This year, 36 young female farmers will benefit from these aids, representing a significant increase compared to the 12 cases reported in 2018.

Pilar Bracho, a beneficiary of the aid, expressed her gratitude and her desire to continue the work started by her family, using the resources to transform part of her farm into irrigated land.

The territorial delegate concluded that the simplified management of these aids has attracted 76% more applications compared to 2018, when 59 young people received aids totaling 3.57 million euros.
