The Marbella City Council has renewed its agreement with Fundatul through a nominative grant of 90,000 euros for 2026. The aid will allow the maintenance of assistance programs for 340 users with disabilities and dependency.
The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, and the manager of Fundatul, María José Pando, signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement on Monday, which guarantees a nominative grant of 90,000 euros for the 2026 fiscal year. The event took place at the San Pedro Alcántara Tourist Office, with the presence of the deputy mayor of San Pedro, Javier García.
This municipal contribution will primarily cover the personnel costs of the entity, which has a team of 17 professionals. Thanks to this structure, Fundatul can develop personal assistance programs, pre-employment training, qualification, and socio-labour insertion aimed at people with disabilities, functional diversity, or in a situation of dependency.
Support for social and labour inclusion
The mayor highlighted that with this agreement, the City Council reinforces its commitment to the associative fabric of the city. “It supports the work that Fundatul does to care for, protect, and include people in situations of greater vulnerability,” Muñoz pointed out, especially remembering Remedios del Río, a key figure in the foundation's origins, with whom she signed the agreement last year. “She was an indispensable person and left an indelible mark,” she added.
The mayor has committed to continue collaborating with the entity: “We will keep working so that every time Fundatul presents us with a new project, we can be by their side and respond.”
340 users and job creation
For her part, the manager of Fundatul expressed gratitude for the municipal support and emphasised the importance of this agreement for the stability of the organisation. “For us, it means relief and peace of mind because it allows us to continue assisting the 340 users who are part of our programs,” Pando indicated.
Additionally, she highlighted the social and labour impact of the entity's activities. “We are generating employment and, moreover, we are enabling many people who were receiving a pension to become active individuals who work, contribute, and participate in society, which also represents significant savings for public finances,” she explained.
For the residents of Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara, this renewal means the continuation of an essential service that promotes personal autonomy and social inclusion for the most vulnerable groups. Fundatul's programs not only improve the quality of life for users but also generate an economic return by reducing dependence on public benefits.
The head of Fundatul conveyed her gratitude to the City Council and the mayor “for the constant support they show towards our work and for continuing to trust in a project that has the sole aim of improving the quality of life for the citizens who need it most.”
The agreement, which is renewed annually, allows the foundation to plan its activities with stability. Those interested in learning about the programs or requesting information can contact the Fundatul headquarters in San Pedro Alcántara.
