Marbella City Council has renewed its agreement with Fundatul with a grant of €90,000 for 2026, aimed at maintaining its support programmes for 340 users with disabilities.
The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, and the manager of Fundatul, María José Pando, signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement last week at the San Pedro Alcántara Tourist Office, which guarantees a nominative grant of €90,000 for the 2026 financial year. The agreement ensures the continuity of the programmes that the entity develops in favour of people with disabilities, functional diversity or in a situation of dependency.
Support for staff and programmes
The municipal aid will mainly be used to cover the staff costs of Fundatul, which has a team of 17 professionals. They are responsible for promoting initiatives for personal assistance, pre-employment training, qualification, and social and labour insertion, all aimed at fostering personal autonomy and social inclusion for the users.
During the event, Muñoz highlighted that “with this agreement, the City Council reinforces its commitment to the associative fabric of the city and supports the work that Fundatul does to care for, protect, and include people who are in a situation of greater vulnerability.” The mayor also had a special remembrance for Remedios del Río, with whom she signed the agreement the previous year and whom she described as “an indispensable person in the origins of Fundatul.”
Stability and job creation
For her part, María José Pando thanked the municipal support and emphasised the importance of the agreement for the stability of the organisation. “For us, it means relief and peace of mind because it allows us to continue supporting the 340 users who are part of our programmes,” she stated. The manager also highlighted the social and labour impact of Fundatul's activities: “We are generating jobs and, in addition, we are enabling many people who were receiving a pension to become active individuals who work, contribute, and help society, which also represents significant savings for public finances.”
The mayor committed to continuing to support the entity: “We will keep working so that every time Fundatul presents us with a new project, we can be by their side and respond.” The agreement, which is renewed annually, allows the foundation to plan its activities with guarantees and maintain a stable workforce of professionals.
Fundatul, based in Marbella, has been working for years on the integration of people with disabilities, offering personalised pathways that range from training to job placement. The municipal grant covers a significant part of its budget, ensuring that the programmes are not interrupted. For the residents of Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara, this agreement means that 340 people continue to receive specialised support, and that many of them can access the job market, thus contributing to a more inclusive society.
