The bullfighter from Cáceres, Emilio de Justo, achieved two ears on the fifth bull of the Victoriano del Río fight, on an afternoon marked by the docility of the livestock.
The Feria de Málaga experienced a contrasting afternoon this Saturday at the La Malagueta bullring. The lineup, featuring Alejandro Talavante, Emilio de Justo, and Roca Rey, promised strong emotions, but the Victoriano del Río fight, except for the fifth bull, disappointed due to its docility and lack of spirit. The audience, which nearly filled the venue, expressed their discontent with protests over the behaviour of the livestock.
Emilio de Justo, making his debut in the Málaga fair, knew how to read the situation. After a first bull from his lot that backed down as the performance began to take shape, the Cáceres native went for the fifth. He dedicated the fight to the audience and went to the centre, aware that he needed to seek the charge rather than wait for it. The bull, noble but lacking in strength, was managed with composure and patience by the bullfighter, who managed to build a natural performance that grew in intensity and emotion.
The performance, which began with circular passes, turned into a lesson in intelligent bullfighting. De Justo enhanced the bull, which was not extraordinary, and managed to connect with a crowd that had been asking for excitement for hours. After a precise thrust, the president awarded him the two ears, allowing him to exit through the 'Manolo Segura' Puerta Grande.
Alejandro Talavante, for his part, had no options. The Extremaduran faced two bulls that did not cooperate. The first, which opened the show, came out without commitment and barely wanted to take the cape. Talavante tried to provoke the charge with the muleta, but the bull did not respond, and he ended up using the sword. The fourth was even worse, with the animal seeking the boards and showing absolute docility. Talavante left empty-handed, unable to truly engage in the fight.
Roca Rey, who completed the lineup, had no options with his two bulls, although he showed glimpses of his class in the pass to the first bull of De Justo. The afternoon, however, was marked by the inequality of the livestock and by the performance of De Justo, who found water in the desert.
