Málaga, 19 August 2026.- The Local Police of Málaga, in collaboration with the Health and Consumer Inspection Service of the City Council, intervened a total of 27 kilograms of sushi that were being transported without adequate refrigeration conditions.
The action took place on 17 August, when a patrol of the Local Police, who were on plain clothes duty at the Cortijo de Torres Fairgrounds, stopped a motorbike rider on José Blázquez El Maño street. After identification, the officers confirmed that there were 91 packages of sushi in the motorbike's trunk, intended for a stand located in a booth at the fairgrounds.
The motorcyclist identified himself as the owner of a catering establishment and explained that he prepared the products being transported in his vehicle. However, the police verified that the trunk did not have an adequate refrigeration system for food transport, relying only on some ice packs typical of portable coolers.
Given this situation, a report was filed, and after transferring the sushi to the cold storage at the destination booth, that cold storage was sealed to prevent the consumption of the goods. Subsequently, members of the Nature Protection Group (GRUPRONA) of the Local Police, along with an inspector from the municipal Health and Consumer Service, proceeded to unseal the food.
Finally, the voluntary disposal of the 27 kilograms of sushi was carried out, and the responsible party was informed about the current regulations regarding food transport and the cold chain.
