The municipality is executing six projects alongside E-Distribución to renew and bury lines, replace transformers, and reduce outages in various areas.
The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria, in collaboration with E-Distribución, has launched a package of six projects to modernise the municipality's electrical distribution network. The works, which are already underway, involve a total investment of €341,147.31 and aim to improve the quality and continuity of supply, as well as resolve incidents and outages that have been recorded in various locations.
The Councillor for Works and General Services, Sergio Díaz, explained that many of these interventions are motivated by issues of power cuts, lack of capacity, or the age of the installations. The Mayor, Francisco Salado, emphasised that these works will eliminate overhead lines and old elements of the network to move towards infrastructures that are "safer, more efficient, and adapted to the growth of our various residential areas."
Torre de Benagalbón, the area with the most projects
One of the main projects is taking place in Torre de Benagalbón, where a 546-metre overhead medium-voltage line and three pylons are being removed, in addition to 468 metres of obsolete underground lines. In their place, a new underground line will be installed to connect the transformation centres of Los Fernández, Calle El Faro, and Calle Segura, with a total of 1,597 metres of new ducting and an investment of €110,034.61.
In the same area, the transformation centre on Calle Alborán is being replaced and will be relocated to a public area. The project includes the burial of the low-voltage line that crossed the Camino Viejo de Vélez and has a budget of €41,233.86.
La Cala del Moral and Serramar, responding to residents' complaints
In the Serramar urbanisation, in La Cala del Moral, the underground low-voltage lines on Juan Ramón Jiménez and Campoamor streets are being renewed, with 303 metres of new network and an investment of €25,043.82. Additionally, another underground line of 704 metres will be installed along Antonio Machado, Jorge Guillén, and María Zambrano streets, with a budget of €84,655.80.
Díaz highlighted that these actions in Serramar are particularly important because "they respond to a situation that has generated numerous incidents and inconveniences for residents over the past few years." In Cortijo Blanco, also in Torre de Benagalbón, a higher-capacity transformer will be installed and overhead low-voltage lines will be buried, at a cost of €31,275.28.
The final project, in Añoreta
In the Añoreta area, 706 metres of overhead medium-voltage line and four metal supports will be removed, to be replaced by 1,138 metres of underground line on Green, Avenida del Golf, Serrezuela, Pitágoras, and Bogey streets. This intervention has a budget of €48,903.94.
The works will be carried out in stages over the coming weeks, aiming to minimise inconvenience to residents. The Town Hall has assured that citizens will be kept informed about the progress of the works and any potential temporary supply cuts.
