Rincón de la Victoria reports the theft of four Local Police pistols

The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria has reported to the Civil Guard the disappearance of four police-issued pistols held at the Local Police Headquarters in Torre de Benagalbón. The investigation is underway.

The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria has filed a complaint with the Civil Guard regarding the theft of four police-issued pistols that were stored at the Local Police Headquarters in Torre de Benagalbón. The Chief of the Local Police of the municipality formalised the complaint at the Main Post of the Civil Guard in Rincón de la Victoria, and since then, the Judicial Police of Vélez-Málaga has been directing the investigation.

According to the complaint, the stolen weapons are four pistols that were not assigned to any active officer, as they had been handed over by four officials upon their retirement in recent years. The weapons were kept in the designated custody area within the police facilities.

The disappearance was detected during the annual review that the Local Police conducts of the official arsenal alongside the Weapons and Explosives Intervention of the Civil Guard in Vélez-Málaga. Upon checking that the four handguns were not in their designated storage, the protocol was activated and the complaint was filed immediately.

The Town Hall has assured that both the Local Police and the Town Council itself are fully cooperating with the Judicial Police, providing all the required information and documentation. The investigation is ongoing and the Town Hall has also initiated an internal reserved information file to clarify what went wrong in the custody protocol.

Similarly, the Town Hall has announced that it will act as a private prosecution in any judicial proceedings that may arise. So far, no further details have been provided about how the theft occurred or if any suspects have been identified.

The news has raised concerns among the residents of Rincón de la Victoria, who are closely following the progress of an investigation that directly affects the safety of the municipality. The Civil Guard is expected to provide more information in the coming days.
