The gastronomic event will take place from August 20 to September 6 at the Las Lagunas fairgrounds. More than 200,000 attendees are expected.

The Las Lagunas fairgrounds will host a new edition of The Champions Burger, which will be held from August 20 to September 6. The event will bring together 17 restaurants, including Dak Burger, the only representative from Mijas.

The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, presented the event this Friday, accompanied by the Public Roads councillor, Melisa Ceballos, and the owner of Dak Burger, Domi González. The mayor announced that this edition comes with a refreshed image under the name 'The big game', featuring American football as the backdrop.

As a new feature, the event will include a space dedicated to the most viral cheesecakes, named 'The Champions Cheesecake', where five bakeries will offer innovative recipes.

During the two weeks of the event, attendees will be able to explore the various food trucks set up at the venue. The restaurants will compete to create the best hamburger, with the winner determined by public vote.

The event aims to demonstrate that hamburgers are much more than fast food. All will be made with premium quality meats and combinations designed to surprise.

An event with economic and employment impact

The Champions Burger exceeded all expectations last year in its first edition in Mijas, with 187,000 attendees. This year, it is estimated that the number will grow to 200,000 visitors, according to the mayor.

“This would represent an average of 10,500 attendees daily and is not only a very important figure from a public impact perspective but also an organisational, planning, and safety challenge for the Mijas Town Hall, for which we are ready,” said Ana Mata.

The event will generate around 60 direct jobs, with a particular emphasis on local hiring. This is in addition to indirect employment in sectors such as suppliers, logistics, transport, accommodation, supplies, hospitality, catering, and commerce.

“I can only invite all Mijans to participate in this event that makes Mijas a reference point for street food lovers,” concluded the mayor.

The event will run from 18:00 to 00:00 hours from Monday to Thursday and from 12:00 to 00:00 hours from Friday to Sunday. Admission is free.
