A 51-year-old man was arrested in Torre del Mar, Vélez-Málaga, on suspicion of drug trafficking using the 'telecoca' method, police said Tuesday. The suspect is accused of not only delivering drugs to customers' homes but also using his own home as a point of sale.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Drug Squad of the Vélez-Málaga Local Police Station. A second man, aged 52, who was accompanying the main suspect at the time of the intervention, was also detained. Both were intercepted in a vehicle in the Chilches-Costa area.
The investigation began after officers learned of the suspect's alleged continuous drug sales. During surveillance, police confirmed he used two methods: delivering to buyers and attending directly at his home. The operation was triggered when officers observed evasive maneuvers and reckless driving by the vehicle's driver during a control device.
Upon searching the vehicle, police seized 52.54 grams of cocaine and 13.19 grams of marijuana. A subsequent search of the suspect's home uncovered 19.53 grams of MDMA, 29.66 grams of tusi, 3.64 grams of cocaine, a precision scale, single-dose bags, scissors, and other packaging materials.
The operation has dismantled a suspected drug distribution point in the Axarquía region of Málaga, where the main suspect combined direct sales from his home with home deliveries using the so-called 'telecoca' method. This method, which involves the dealer traveling to the agreed location, has become increasingly common in the area.
Police noted that similar operations in the region have led to multiple arrests in recent months. In July, a similar network was broken up in Nerja, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Costa del Sol. The suspects now face charges related to drug trafficking and are expected to appear before a judge in Vélez-Málaga.
The investigation remains open, and authorities are analyzing seized materials to determine if the suspects were part of a larger network. The public is urged to report any suspicious activity to the police.
