The Antequera City Council has re-tendered the improvement works for the children's playground in the Los Remedios neighbourhood, after the first tender was left void. The project, valued at €98,618, includes new equipment and flooring adapted to the local climate.

The Antequera City Council has launched a second attempt to completely remodel the children's playground in the Los Remedios neighbourhood, on Granada Street. The investment amounts to €98,618 and the project includes the complete replacement of the current equipment, flooring, and perimeter fencing.

Certified equipment and innovative flooring

The new facilities will include a double swing, a carousel with a climbing net, and a play structure with slides and walkways, all certified according to European safety standards. The cushioning surface will be made of natural cork and artificial grass, a system chosen for its resistance to the thermal fluctuations of Antequera, according to the technical report.

The project also includes improvements to accessibility, with pathways and flooring adapted for people with reduced mobility. The aim is for the park to be inclusive and safe for all children in the neighbourhood.

Second tender after the first was void

This is the second time the City Council has put the works out to tender. The first tender was left void because the only bid submitted did not reach the minimum required technical score. Now, the deadline for submitting offers ends this Thursday, July 9.

The expected execution period is three months, so if the award is made in the coming weeks, the residents of Los Remedios could enjoy the new park before the end of the year.

A park for the daily life of the neighbourhood

The Los Remedios neighbourhood is a residential area with a high density of children, and the current park was showing significant deterioration. With this action, the City Council aims to provide a modern and safe recreational space that encourages shared play and coexistence among the little ones.

Residents had been calling for an improvement of the facility, which will now see both the equipment and the flooring and fencing renewed. The installation of access doors and perimeter fencing will enhance safety, preventing children from leaving the street unsupervised.

In short, an investment that, although modest in budgetary terms, represents a significant change for the quality of life of families in the area. As the saying goes, a good playground is the thermometer of a well-kept neighbourhood.
