The Málaga Fair of 2026 concludes with historic figures: municipal buses exceeded 1.78 million journeys and shows attracted over 951,000 people. The City Council highlights the established prominence of the Cortijo de Torres fairground.

The Málaga Fair 2026 has ended with the best records in recent years. Data released this Sunday by the City Council of Málaga confirms that public attendance has once again broken records, both in the Centre and at the Cortijo de Torres fairground, which consolidates its role as the epicentre of the festivities.

Buses from the Málaga Transport Company (EMT) recorded 1,784,827 journeys, a 5.1% increase compared to the previous edition. On Tuesday 18, a historic milestone was reached: 209,059 passengers in a single day, the highest figure in the company’s over one hundred years of history.

Municipal car parks also reflected high occupancy. The Centre and its surroundings offered 5,066 spaces with an average occupancy of 81%, while in the Cortijo de Torres area, 3,185 spaces for cars and 2,990 for motorcycles were made available, with similar usage levels.

The generation of waste confirms the appeal of the fairground: over 533 tonnes of rubbish were collected in the area of booths and attractions, a 14% increase compared to last year. In the Centre, 734 tonnes were removed, a 4% increase. In total, 1,267 tonnes, an 8% increase compared to 2025. Selective collection of paper and cardboard, along with the door-to-door collection initiated in 2022 in Cortijo de Torres, amounted to 16.8 tonnes, a 12% increase.

Nearly 200 musical and artistic shows attracted 951,030 attendees, including programming in the Centre, the fairground, the Youth Esplanade, fireworks, the pilgrimage, and the opening speech. Attendance at the drone and pyromusical shows remained stable, as did the pilgrimage. In the Centre, 277,580 attendees were counted, and in Cortijo de Torres, 288,350.

In terms of security, the Local Police made 62 interventions for fights and reported 39 individuals for public urination and 9 for consuming alcohol in the street. The City Council assures that the sale of unsealed drinks has been eradicated, following the 490 units confiscated last year. A total of 74 reports were filed for unlicensed street vending.

During the fair week, 727 interventions were carried out in establishments and booths, resulting in 37 reports and four precautionary closures in the fairground due to repeated deficiencies such as lack of delineation, charging for entry, non-compliance with schedules, problems with emergency exits, or insufficient lighting.

Regarding road safety, the Accident Investigation and Reporting Group (GIAA) conducted 2,736 breath and drug tests, with 147 positive breath tests leading to fines, 23 criminal positives, and 5 for drugs. There were 14 reports for speeding and a total of 53 arrests, including 4 for sexual assault, 7 for gender violence, 2 for domestic violence, 8 for violent robbery, 4 for assaulting authority, 3 for injuries, and 7 for drug dealing.

In the horse parade, 77 checks were carried out and 367 harnesses and horses were inspected, with no reports. The municipal health service, coordinated by the Firefighters' Medical Unit, recorded 1,232 assists, two-thirds of which were for alcohol excess, followed by minor injuries. Civil Protection attended to over 350 alerts and around 250 assists, mostly minor. There were also three stabbings attended to.

The Health and Consumer Service, in collaboration with the Local Police and the Civil Guard, issued 12 reports to booths for food-related incidents and 17 for transport violations, and confiscated 215.7 kilos of products. The 2026 fair thus leaves a balance of massive participation and a solid commitment to the fairground as a major festive space.
