The Junta of Andalucía has begun the renewal of the surface on 22 kilometres of the A-92 motorway, which covers the towns of Mollina, Antequera and Archidona, in the province of Málaga. These works are being carried out as part of the Extraordinary Asphalt Plan.

Night work to minimise impact

The works are being carried out at night, a strategy aimed at improving the safety of the workers and avoiding interference in the traffic of such a crucial road as the A-92. The first section, which spans from kilometre 141 to 151, has already been completed. Work on the rest of the road, from kilometre 154 to 176, will take place between the last week of August and the first week of September.

Muñoz-Atanet, spokesperson for the Junta, highlighted that this plan is part of a continuous effort to renew and improve the motorway. In recent years, work has been done on nearly 90 kilometres of this road, with the aim of maintaining the adequacy of the road network.

Details of the Extraordinary Asphalt Plan

The Extraordinary Asphalt Plan of the Junta of Andalucía is the largest investment in surface improvements in the last 20 years, with a budget of 151.5 million euros for the entire community. Of this amount, 17.5 million euros are specifically allocated for the province of Málaga, where interventions will take place on around fifteen roads.

Recently, the surface of ten kilometres of the Guadalhorce Motorway (A-357) was also renewed, using night hours for the execution of the works. The actions on the A-92 focus on the most deteriorated sections, starting from kilometre 151, in the municipality of Antequera.

The plan aims to intervene in 1,000 kilometres of 137 roads in Andalucía, ensuring adequate conditions of safety and comfort for users. To ensure proper execution, a prior analysis of the state of the road network has been carried out.

Specific measures include the repair of potholes, milling of the pavement, recovery of the embankment, laying of bituminous mixtures, and improvement of horizontal signage, among other actions.
