The Civil Guard is investigating the death of a 17-year-old Norwegian girl whose body was found on the A-7 in Mijas after disappearing from a nightclub in Puerto Banús. The driver of the vehicle that hit her fled the scene.
The lifeless body of Nikoline, a 17-year-old Norwegian girl, was discovered in the early hours of Monday, July 6, at kilometre 1027 of the old N-340, passing through Mijas. The young woman had disappeared hours earlier from a nightclub in Puerto Banús, Marbella, and the driver of the vehicle that ran her over fled the scene. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the events.
A night of celebration that ended in tragedy
Nikoline was enjoying her last hours of holiday on the Costa del Sol. On the afternoon of Sunday, July 5, she met a friend to watch the World Cup round of 16 match between Norway and Brazil, which took place at 22:00. The Norwegian team won 2-1, and the group of young people went to celebrate at Funky Buddha, a well-known trendy venue in Puerto Banús.
At around 4:00 am, Nikoline's friend went to the bathroom, and upon returning, she could no longer find her. The last mobile signal from the girl placed her in the vicinity of the nightclub shortly after. From then on, silence. Her mother, worried by the lack of news, filed a missing person report at the National Police station in Fuengirola.
A hit-and-run 30 kilometres away
At 5:20 am, several witnesses alerted 112 about a fatal hit-and-run on the A-7, in the municipality of Mijas. The body of a woman lay severely injured in the lane heading towards Marbella. It was Nikoline, who died almost instantly. The vehicle involved, according to witnesses, could be a small truck, a van, or a pickup. The driver did not stop to assist her.
The distance between the nightclub in Puerto Banús and the site of the accident exceeds 30 kilometres, raising numerous questions: Who did Nikoline leave the nightclub with? Where was she during the hour and a half before her death? How did she get to the motorway? Why did she cross a four-lane road in the middle of the night? The Civil Guard does not rule out any hypothesis, including that the young woman may have tried to flee from the driver of the vehicle that could have taken her to the area.
The investigation is underway
The Civil Guard has taken over the investigation of the hit-and-run, while the National Police continues with the missing person case. Both bodies are coordinating efforts to identify the fleeing driver and clarify the events. Nikoline's mother, who had sought help through social media, endured hours of anguish until the worst news was confirmed. The young woman was scheduled to return to Norway on Monday to attend a friend's birthday. Now, her family awaits answers.
