The Nerja Business Association (AEN) and Nerja Centro have delivered the first solidarity cheque of 300 euros to the Taller de la Amistad, resulting from new member registrations. The initiative allocates the first quarterly fee of each new member to support the social work of this entity.

The business associations AEN and Nerja Centro have materialised their solidarity commitment with the delivery of the first cheque of 300 euros to the Taller de la Amistad Association. The event, held on 10 July, represents the first fruit of the agreement signed in February, whereby both entities fully allocate the first quarterly fee of new members to this social cause.

A model of associationism with social impact

The president of AEN, Raúl Rivas, explained that the initiative was born with a dual objective: to strengthen the business fabric of Nerja and to turn that growth into a direct benefit for society. "We wanted the growth of our associations to have a positive impact beyond the business realm," Rivas stated during the delivery.

The cheque of 300 euros corresponds to the new registrations recorded until mid-May. "Hopefully the next ones will be considerably larger," Rivas added, "that would mean more businesses and self-employed individuals trust AEN and Nerja Centro, that our business fabric is stronger, and that we can contribute more resources to the extraordinary work of the Taller de la Amistad."

The event was also attended by the president of Nerja Centro, Enrique López Cuenca, and the director of the Taller de la Amistad, Daniel Segovia. Both highlighted the importance of local entrepreneurs getting involved in social causes.

How it benefits the residents of Nerja

For the residents of Nerja, this initiative represents direct support for the work carried out by the Taller de la Amistad, an entity that works with people with intellectual disabilities and their families, offering inclusion, training, and care programmes. Each new member of AEN or Nerja Centro translates into concrete help for these groups.

From AEN and Nerja Centro, they encourage businesses and self-employed individuals in the municipality to join the project. "It not only strengthens business representation but also provides direct help to the Taller de la Amistad," sources from the associations emphasised.

The agreement, signed in February, establishes that the first quarterly fee of each new member is to be fully allocated to this entity. With this first delivery, both organisations reaffirm their commitment to building a model of associationism based on collaboration and social responsibility.

Looking to the future, AEN and Nerja Centro are hopeful that the next cheques will be larger as new businesses join the initiative. "Each new member is an opportunity to improve the lives of people in Nerja," they concluded.
