The Seniors Area of the Antequera City Council opens registrations in September for the workshops of the 2026/2027 course, aimed at those over 60 years old.

The Antequera City Council, through the Seniors Area, has announced the registration periods for activities aimed at people over 60 years during the 2026/2027 course. The delegated councillor for Seniors, María Sierras, presented a programme that combines physical and emotional well-being workshops with musical and dance proposals.

The programme of activities for seniors will open its application period from 7 to 25 September. It will take place between October 2026 and June 2027 at the Social Services Centre on calle Picadero, free of charge and with limited places.

Led by psychologist Raquel García Luque, the programme includes cognitive stimulation, memory, self-esteem, emotional intelligence, stress relaxation, and psychomotor exercises. The sessions will be held on Tuesdays at different times, starting in early October.

The Sevillanas Workshop is aimed at seniors registered in Antequera. Registrations will take place from 15 to 30 September at the Municipal Music School of Antequera (EMMA), on calle Herrezuelos, from 18:00 to 21:00 hours. For more information, the contact number is 952 70 83 43.

The activity Music for Seniors also opens registrations from 15 to 30 September at the Social Services Centre, on calle Picadero. It will be held on Sundays from 18:00 to 21:30 hours at the Municipal Music School, starting on 4 October. The contact number is 952 70 81 20.

María Sierras highlighted the social aspect of these initiatives.

“The most important thing is that we are all together, that we promote participation, that we enjoy ourselves, and that we have a good year.”

The councillor emphasized that the dance and music workshops encourage socialization and help combat unwanted loneliness. With this programme, the Seniors Area aims to promote active and participatory ageing among the residents of Antequera.
