The tenth anniversary of the declaration of the Site of the Antequera Dolmens as UNESCO World Heritage is the focus of one of the research works in the new issue of the Jábega magazine, published by the Málaga Provincial Council.
The magazine Jábega, published by the Málaga Provincial Council, has presented its issue 115, which prominently dedicates space to the tenth anniversary of the declaration of the Site of the Antequera Dolmens as UNESCO World Heritage. The publication, a reference in the dissemination of Málaga's heritage, gathers multidisciplinary research on history, archaeology, economy, and art of the province and Andalucía.
A milestone for Antequera's heritage
The commemorative article reviews the importance of this anniversary, considered one of the most significant milestones for the cultural projection of Antequera. The Dolmens of Menga, Viera, and El Romeral, along with the Tholos of El Romeral, were inscribed on the UNESCO list in 2016, attracting thousands of visitors each year since.
The Vice President of Municipal Attention and head of the Editing Centre of the Provincial Council, María Francisca Caracuel, highlighted during the presentation that Jábega has maintained its multidisciplinary character since its creation in 1973. “It is a key tool for the study and dissemination of Málaga's heritage,” she noted.
Other interesting contents
Issue 115 also includes works on the centenary of the death of businessman Félix Sáenz, an analysis of the debate on the future railway connection of the coastal train in the Costa del Sol, and various studies on the history, heritage, and economic evolution of the province of Málaga. The magazine, which is distributed in libraries and documentation centres, thus reinforces its cultural dissemination work.
For the residents of Antequera and the province, this issue represents an opportunity to delve into the prehistoric legacy that makes the region a global reference.
