The Vélez-Málaga City Council has detected duplications and discrepancies in the receipts of the new waste fee. It will meet with the Collection Board and address the matter in the next Plenary.
The City Council of Vélez-Málaga has initiated a review of the receipts for the waste fee applicable to professionals, self-employed individuals, traders, and holders of economic activities after receiving numerous inquiries from residents. The economic department has already identified duplicities in some receipts, discrepancies in the square meters of certain premises, and other incidents that require individual analysis.
The councillor for Economy and Finance, Manuel Gutiérrez, explained that this is the first time this fee has been applied and that they are checking all situations to provide an appropriate response. Among the cases being reviewed are those of individuals engaged in different activities, potential duplications, differences in the computed area, and specific situations such as those of taxi professionals.
The governing team has formally requested a meeting with the Collection Board to verify the information and seek solutions to possible errors in the issuance of the receipts. Gutiérrez wanted to convey a message of reassurance to those affected and thanked the residents who have reported their cases.
“The government team has automatically set to work and has requested a meeting with the Collection Board to resolve these discrepancies and provide answers to our residents,” Gutiérrez stated.
The councillor reminded that the waste fee is imposed by the National Government, so the City Council must apply it, but insisted that the municipal government will be “alongside” entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, and professionals during this process. The Economic Area maintains an open channel to address inquiries and receive situations that need to be reviewed.
The detected incidents and ongoing actions will be addressed in the next plenary session of the municipal Corporation, scheduled for next Monday. The City Council insists that any affected individual who detects a discrepancy in their receipt should contact the City Council for their case to be analyzed and, if applicable, corrected.
