The municipal company Aguas del Torcal has begun the preventive cleaning campaign of drains and manholes in Antequera, following the Real Feria de Agosto, to prepare the network for possible heavy rains.

The municipal company Aguas del Torcal has started this week a special campaign to clean and maintain drains, manholes, and other elements of the rainwater collection network in Antequera, with the aim of ensuring their proper functioning in anticipation of potential rains in the coming weeks and months.

The work has commenced once the tasks of preparing the city for the Real Feria de Agosto and the subsequent actions after its conclusion were completed. Now, a significant portion of the municipal company's efforts are focused on a preventive task that is especially important at this time of year.

The deputy mayor in charge of Aguas del Torcal, José Manuel Fernández, has explained that numerous workers from the municipal company are already dedicated to these tasks, which will continue over the coming weeks until ensuring that "the entire rainwater collection system is ready and in order."

“We want that when those moderate or torrential rains arrive in the city, everything is in perfect condition and has sufficient capacity to handle them without causing any damage,” Fernández stated.

This is a preventive campaign that is typically carried out before the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, a period when episodes of rain or storms of varying intensity can occur. Its purpose is to keep the various water evacuation points clear and in the best possible condition, thus reducing the risk of incidents during particularly intense precipitation.

The actions will be progressively developed in both the neighbourhoods and the outlying districts and the central area of Antequera, proceeding with the cleaning and checking of the different elements that are part of the rainwater collection network.

José Manuel Fernández has highlighted the commitment of the workers of Aguas del Torcal in an action aimed at anticipating possible adverse weather phenomena and ensuring that the network is prepared to channel rainwater normally.
