The street reopens to traffic after a comprehensive renovation costing €404,000 that replaces over 60-year-old pipelines and creates a new level surface between San Pedro and Veracruz.
The street Taller y Ollas in Antequera has reopened to traffic following a complete overhaul that has renewed the supply and sewage networks, which were over 60 years old, according to Diario Sur. The work, carried out through the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA), involved an investment of around €404,000 and has allowed for the formalisation of 95 contracts for skilled workers and labourers.
The project covered a stretch of nearly 130 metres and included improvements to the road surface and the transformation of the street's layout. The most visible change is the new level surface, which eliminates height differences and obstacles for pedestrians and provides continuity to the pedestrian space. Beneath this new appearance lies the main part of the renovation: the replacement of the pipes and the planned implementation of separate networks for rainwater and wastewater.
The works were organised in two phases to maintain vehicle traffic and reduce inconvenience to residents. The Councillor for Works, Teresa Molina, explained that this division allowed the work to be compatible with the access needs of residents during the intervention months.

The reopening does not mean that all pending work has been completed. Aguas del Torcal will need to determine the final location of the containers temporarily installed during the works, while the Traffic and Safety Area will now analyse how traffic functions with the new layout to complete the necessary signs and road markings.
The renovation has also been used to restore the trees in the square area. The replanting of three specimens is planned after a storm caused one of the existing trees to fall. The Town Hall has asked drivers to respect the spaces designated for pedestrian traffic and to avoid parking in areas reserved for pedestrians.
The mayor, Manolo Barón, highlighted the positive feedback received from residents following the completion of the works. Taller and Ollas thus reconnects the neighbourhoods of San Pedro and Veracruz normally after one of the largest budget projects of the PFEA in Antequera.
