Taller and Ollas street is now open to traffic following a comprehensive renovation funded by the PFEA. The project has created 95 jobs and renewed networks over 60 years old.
Vehicles can now circulate on Taller and Ollas street in Antequera. The mayor, Manolo Barón, and the deputy mayor for Works, Teresa Molina, announced on Tuesday the completion of the works and the reopening of the road, located between the San Pedro neighbourhood and the Cerro de la Veracruz.
The intervention has been carried out under the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA), with an investment of €404,000, generating 95 jobs. The renovated stretch is nearly 130 metres long.
In addition to the new paving, the work has renewed the water supply and sewage networks, whose pipelines were over 60 years old. The street now features a single platform that eliminates obstacles and improves accessibility for residents.
The mayor has praised the scope of the work that the City Council decided to undertake comprehensively and has assured that residents have given positive feedback on the outcome.
“We are aware of the number of problems that a construction project generates,” said Molina.
The deputy mayor explained that, although the project was developed in a single phase, the works were organised in two parts to allow vehicle passage and reduce inconvenience to residents.
In the square area, three trees have been replaced after a storm caused one of the existing trees to fall.
Following the reopening, there are pending adjustments. Aguas del Torcal is working on the final reordering of the temporarily installed containers, while the Security and Traffic Area is studying the traffic flow with the new configuration to complete the signage and road markings.
The City Council reminds everyone of the obligation to respect pedestrian transit spaces and not to park on the sidewalks.
