José Luis Marí, a young Andalusian from the Integrated Centre Hurtado de Mendoza, will represent Spain at the WorldSkills Professional Training Olympics, scheduled from September 22 to 27, 2026, in Shanghai, China.
This competition is considered the largest worldwide in the field of Professional Training and will bring together qualified young people from 70 countries and regions who will demonstrate their skills in various job categories.
Competition and Preparation
The Spanish delegation will consist of 34 young individuals, who will compete in 31 specialties. José Luis Marí will participate in the Hotel Reception category, a discipline in which he won a gold medal during the national championship SpainSkills, held in February 2026 in Madrid.
María del Carmen Castillo, the Education Councillor, highlighted Marí's remarkable trajectory, who has already completed his training as a Higher Technician in Tourist Accommodation Management. Castillo also thanked the dedication and effort of the teaching team, especially his tutor Jorge Amaya, who has been instrumental in his preparation for this international event.
A Major Event
WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, which marks its forty-eighth edition, has the motto 'Master your skills, change your future'. This event will gather around 1,400 young people from different countries, who will not only compete in demanding technical tests but will also have the opportunity to share experiences with their international peers.
In addition to this event, José Luis Marí will also participate in EuroSkills, which will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, in September 2027, where nearly 800 young people from 36 countries will compete in 51 different categories.
