The Exhibition Hall of the Antequera Town Hall hosts 'Interpretations' from this Friday, a collective exhibition featuring nearly thirty works by students of the Municipal Drawing and Painting Workshop, inspired by great universal masters.

The mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, and the councillor for Culture, José Medina Galeote, inaugurated the 'Interpretations' exhibition this afternoon at the Exhibition Hall of the Town Hall. The exhibition brings together nearly thirty works created by students of the Municipal Drawing and Painting Workshop, directed by teacher Fátima Morente. The pieces, made specifically for this exhibition, offer a personal reinterpretation of works by artists such as Gustav Klimt, Edward Hopper, David Hockney, and Tamara de Lempicka.

A course of work and creativity

The workshop, which this year has nearly fifty participants, is a reference in the cultural offerings of Antequera. Teacher Fátima Morente, who has led this initiative for nearly two decades, highlighted "the work, perseverance, and enthusiasm" of the students. "Each work is the result of months of dedication and a personal search for style," she noted during the presentation.

Mayor Manolo Barón congratulated everyone involved and valued "the art they contribute throughout the year through their canvases." He also thanked Fátima Morente for her coordination and direction, which has guided the students in their creative process.

Municipal commitment to culture

Councillor for Culture, José Medina Galeote, emphasized the Town Hall's commitment to such initiatives. "These workshops make our Antequera residents potential artists," he stated. Medina encouraged the students to continue developing their creativity, reminding them that "painting makes us very free and offers us the ability to see other things."

The 'Interpretations' exhibition is the final touch to an intense course. For the residents of Antequera, it is a unique opportunity to see local talent and be inspired by the personal perspectives that the students have captured from the great masters. "We invite everyone to visit it as many times as they wish," added Fátima Morente.

Visiting hours

The exhibition will remain open until July 31, from Monday to Friday, from 18:30 to 21:30 hours. Admission is free. An essential event for art lovers in Antequera, who will discover how local talent dares to reinterpret the great names of universal painting.
