The Real Feria de Agosto de Antequera has awarded the prizes of the XI Flamenco and Traditional Costume Contest. Five first prizes in four categories, with vouchers of up to 200 euros.
The XI Flamenco and Traditional Costume Contest held this Saturday 22nd August as part of the Real Feria de Agosto de Antequera 2026 now has its winners. The event, which took place at noon, has once again highlighted traditional Andalusian clothing within the Day Fair programme.
In the preschool category, the first prize went to Martina Daza Moreno, who received a diploma and a voucher for 100 euros. The second place was awarded to Ismael Tortosa Ruiz, with a diploma and a voucher for 75 euros.
In the children's category, Carla Báez Álvarez took the first prize, which included a diploma and a voucher for 100 euros, while Paz Muñoz Narbona achieved second place, with a diploma and a voucher for 75 euros.
The youth category saw María Rico Fernández as the winner, awarded a diploma and a voucher for 150 euros. The second prize went to Jimena Fernández Narbona, with a diploma and a voucher for 100 euros.
In the adult category, the male section crowned Cristian Padilla Santaella with the first prize, which included a diploma and a voucher for 200 euros. In the female section, Melania Tortosa Rodríguez won the first prize, with a diploma and a voucher for 200 euros, while Sara Sánchez Herrezuelo received the second prize, with a diploma and a voucher for 150 euros.
The jury was composed of Xihomara Pinto, from El Atelier de Costura; Miriam Curiel, manager of Patro Flamenca; and Santiago Carrasco, flamenco fashion designer.
The awards ceremony was presided over by the mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón; the deputy mayor in charge of Major Festivals, Traditions and Flamenco Promotion, Elena Melero; and the manager of the Real Feria de Agosto, Macarena Espinar. Also present were the president of ADIPA, Mariano Mir, and several councillors from the Municipal Corporation.
This contest has established itself as one of the most traditional events of the Day Fair, promoting from an early age the use and preservation of clothing closely linked to the customs and popular traditions of Andalusia. The next event will be the 2027 edition, which will again take place at the Antequera fairgrounds.
