The Estepona Town Hall has tendered the installation of 465 new solar lights on roads in the outskirts, with a total investment of €560,458. This initiative is part of other lighting improvements in parks and the coastal corridor.
The Estepona Town Hall has put out to tender the hiring of 465 new lights for various roads and locations in the outskirts, an initiative that exceeds half a million euros and is part of the municipal plan for the renewal and modernisation of public lighting.
The total investment amounts to €560,458 (including VAT), according to the local council. The bulk of the initiative, with a base tender budget of €461,883, includes the supply and installation of 325 solar streetlights on nine roads. The remaining €98,575 will be allocated to 140 additional lights on the streets of Montejaque, Lima, and Avenida de La Resina.
The solar streetlights will be installed on the roads of Montesol, Sidney, Guadalobón, Monterroso, Camino de Los Molinos, Velerín, La Cala, Biosaludable Jesús de Polanco, and the tracks of Avenida de las Palmeras. The aim is to improve the lighting in these areas and advance energy savings and efficiency.
The renewal will provide more modern and efficient installations, with lower energy consumption and a reduction in the costs associated with public lighting. It will also help to decrease light pollution and improve the quality of lighting in the outskirts.
These initiatives are part of other recent interventions that the Town Hall has been developing to modernise lighting in various public spaces. One of these is the installation of 138 streetlights at several points along the coastal corridor, specifically in Isdabe, Benamara, Guadalmansa, La Gaspara, Avenida México, Bahía Dorada 3, and Bahía Dorada beach. The base tender budget for this initiative amounts to €196,123 (including VAT).
The lighting improvement plan has also reached several parks and green spaces in Estepona. A total of 350 high-pressure sodium lights have been replaced with new state-of-the-art LED equipment in Parque de la Constitución, Parque Huerta Nueva, Parque de los Derechos Humanos, Parque de los Niños, Parque del Seghers, and Parque Carmen Thyssen.
In Parque Carmen Thyssen, more than a hundred ornamental lighting points have also been installed to enhance its image and improve the user experience during nighttime hours. This initiative has involved an investment of €186,823 and has modernised facilities that, in some cases, were over three decades old.
With these initiatives, the Estepona Town Hall continues to advance the renewal of public lighting in the outskirts, extending more sustainable and efficient solutions in various parts of the municipality. Residents in the affected areas will see improved lighting in their streets and public spaces, with a more efficient and environmentally friendly service.
