The Estepona City Council has completed the comprehensive renewal of the lighting in six parks, with an investment of €186,823 and an estimated annual saving of €27,000.
The Estepona City Council has announced the completion of the comprehensive renewal of public lighting in six parks in the city, a measure that will reduce energy consumption by around 65% and generate a saving of €27,000 annually for municipal finances.
The intervention involved replacing 350 high-pressure sodium lamps with state-of-the-art LED equipment in the Parque de La Constitución, Huerta Nueva, Los Derechos Humanos, Los Niños, del Seghers, and Carmen Thyssen. In the latter space, more than a hundred ornamental lighting points have been added.
The total investment has been €186,823 and has modernised facilities that, in some cases, were over three decades old. The installed power has decreased from 35 kilowatts to 12.25, representing a reduction of 22.75 kilowatts.
The Deputy Mayor for the Services and External Control area, Blas Ruzafa, highlighted that this action “represents a new step in the municipal strategy to modernise public infrastructure, improve service quality, and make more efficient use of public resources.”
Ruzafa noted that “we have renewed facilities that had become obsolete after many years of service and now provide more efficient, safe, and sustainable lighting, while significantly reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs.”
The annual energy saving is estimated at 95,550 kilowatt-hours, equivalent to the electrical consumption of about 27 homes. Furthermore, the greater durability of LED technology and the incorporated regulation systems will reduce maintenance costs.
The new luminaires, with a warm colour temperature of 3,000 kelvins, minimise light pollution and glare, benefiting the rest of the neighbours and protecting the environment.
The lifespan of the installation is estimated at ten years, during which the accumulated savings will reach €270,000, allowing for the amortisation of the investment and achieving a favourable economic balance for the City Council.
With this action, the Council continues its line of modernising public infrastructure, improving service quality and the sustainability of the town's green spaces.
