On June 20th, El Sol de Antequera published the news of the presentation of the short film by painter Cristóbal Toral, an event that brought together Mayor Manuel Barón and other local personalities.

On June 20th, the auditorium of Antequera was the setting for the presentation of Cristóbal Toral's short film, an event that gathered local authorities and friends of the artist. The event, organised by the director of El Sol de Antequera, A. J. Guerrero, was attended by Mayor Manuel Barón, councillors Ana Cebrián and José Manuel Medina Galeote, as well as other figures such as Rafael Gómez and Pablo García-Berdoy.

A Family and Antequeran Event

The presentation, described as a warm and close gathering, allowed attendees to enjoy the work of the Antequeran painter. Cristóbal Toral, known for his hyper-realistic style, showcased his short film in an atmosphere that combined art and local tradition. Mayor Barón highlighted the importance of supporting the city's creators, according to municipal sources.

The event not only served to project the short film but also to reconnect with old friends. Among the guests were Ramón Jiménez and several members of the Gómez family, who shared impressions about Toral's work. The most notable absence was that of Pope Leo XIV, who, as the organiser joked, was not invited due to a lack of time.

The Cultural Context of Antequera

The presentation is part of an intense cultural week in Antequera. The same issue of El Sol de Antequera from June 20th also covered the blessing of baby Santiago by Pope Leo XIV, an event that mobilised thousands of faithful. Additionally, the book by José Luis Sánchez-Garrido about Antequera in the year 2400 was announced, a work that promises to imagine the city's future.

For the people of Antequera, such events reinforce the cultural identity of the city. Toral's short film, which does not yet have a commercial release date, is shaping up to be a tribute to local history. Attendees were able to purchase signed copies from the artist at the end of the event.

A Glimpse into the Past and Future

El Sol de Antequera also dedicated space to recalling an incident from 1926: the launch of a rocket that set fire to the Angelote, one of the most beloved figures of Antequera's Holy Week. This event, now revealed by the newspaper, adds a layer of mystery to local history. The combination of past and future in the same edition showcases the cultural richness of Antequera.

Toral's short film, which some critics consider an introspective work, reflects the painter's perspective on his own art. At the presentation, Toral confessed to feeling moved by the support he received. "It is an honour to come back home," declared the artist, according to witnesses. The event concluded with a Spanish wine, where attendees exchanged thoughts on the future of local cinema.
