Aguas del Torcal intensifies street washing and cleaning in Antequera and its districts during the summer, with 16 daily workers and three specific vehicles, one more than last year.
The municipal company Aguas del Torcal has launched a special street cleaning operation for the summer months in Antequera and its districts. The team, which consists of nearly 16 daily workers, focuses on washing streets, removing stains, and disinfecting areas near containers and bins, tasks that become increasingly important with high temperatures and lack of rain.
The main novelty of this campaign is the addition of a third washing vehicle. For the past few weeks, Aguas del Torcal has had two specific vans and a watering truck for larger areas, whereas last summer it only had one van and the aforementioned truck.
The deputy mayor in charge of Aguas del Torcal, José Manuel Fernández, has highlighted the daily work of the team to keep the streets and public spaces in good condition, especially during weeks when the use of public space intensifies. Fernández has thanked the workers for their efforts and reminded the importance of citizen collaboration in caring for the municipality.
The service also reaches the districts. Two workers are dedicated each day to the outlying areas, one for the northern zone and another for the southern zone, complementing their work with periodic washing actions. In recent days, interventions have taken place in locations such as San Antonio, Peñuelas, Espíritu Santo, Higueruelos, Aguardenteros, Mesones, La Paz, La Parra, Carrión, Talavera, Merecillas, Mancilla, La Fuente, San Bartolomé, Santísima Trinidad, La Estrella, Sierpes, plaza de Abastos, Virgen del Consuelo, San Felipe, the area around the Municipal Pool, the Bullring, and Cuesta de Matamoros.
Actions have also been taken in the districts of Bobadilla, coinciding with the days leading up to their fair, and La Joya, as part of the regular planning. Additionally, Aguas del Torcal is already preparing the fairground for the Real Feria de Agosto, which will take place from August 19 to 23. For about two weeks now, an additional pair of workers has been specifically working in the fairground, with daily support from a street sweeper.
Once the fair begins, morning and afternoon cleaning shifts will be established, and during the night, waste collection services will be added. The aim is to cater to one of the spaces with the highest concentration of people during those days, maintaining hygiene and the image of the municipality.
