The Mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, and the Deputy Mayor responsible for Major Festivals and Traditions, Elena Melero, participated this Saturday, August 15, in the Eucharist in honour of the Virgin of Wonders, Patroness of the district of Bobadilla and Gold Medal of the City of Antequera. The celebration coincided with the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin.
The mass was held early in the morning on the renovated San Rafael street in Bobadilla, a space that has recently been updated and welcomed numerous locals and devotees. The service was presided over by the young priest Daniel Gutiérrez.
The ceremony was also attended by the local mayor of Bobadilla, Juliana Torreblanca, and the president of the ELA of Bobadilla Estación, Diana Ramos, along with a large representation of faithful who wanted to accompany their patroness on such a significant day.
The events will continue tonight with the traditional procession of the Virgin of Wonders, which will traverse the streets of Bobadilla starting at 22:00. A high turnout of locals and visitors is expected for one of the most emotional moments in the festive calendar of the district.
The Virgin of Wonders holds the title of Gold Medal of the City of Antequera, a recognition that underscores the deep-rooted nature of this devotion in the municipality and its importance to local identity.
