The national association Aulablog is holding its annual meeting from July 3 to 5 in Antequera. A hundred educators from across Spain will reflect on the challenges of 21st-century schooling using the city's historical heritage as a guiding thread.

Antequera is preparing to host an educational event that promises to innovate the way education is debated. From July 3 to 5, the city of the Dolmens will be the venue for the annual meeting of the national association Aulablog, which will bring together a hundred educators from all educational stages and from different parts of Spain.

Far from classic presentations, the congress proposes an original approach: addressing current classroom issues through the historical and archaeological heritage of the city. Participants will not be limited to listening but will actively engage in a space for reflection, debate, and co-creation of real solutions for 21st-century schooling.

A journey through the Dolmens and the museum as an educational metaphor

The inaugural day will begin at the Site of the Dolmens of Antequera, declared a World Heritage site, with a round table that will serve as a starting point. Subsequently, educators will move to the Museum of the City of Antequera (MVCA), where a pioneering methodology will be implemented.

There, five emblematic pieces from the museum will act as a conceptual metaphor to address the critical axes of current education. Among them are competency-based work and learning, emotional well-being and mental health in the digital age, educational inclusion and attention to diversity, the ethical and critical use of ICT and Artificial Intelligence, and distributed educational leadership in schools.

For the residents of Antequera, this meeting represents an opportunity to see how their heritage becomes a top-level pedagogical tool. Additionally, the presence of educators from all over Spain during those days will energise the cultural and hospitality activities of the city.

From brainstorming to a practical manifesto

After the analysis phase, the event will culminate in a collective brainstorming session. Educators will create a map of solutions and a practical manifesto with concrete proposals to improve current issues in education. This document will be submitted to the relevant administrations, with the hope of making a real impact on educational policies.

The organisers, Gustavo Vegas and David Pineda, have explained on Hoy por Hoy Andalucía Centro that the goal is for educators not only to debate but to generate useful tools for everyday classroom use. An initiative that, given its approach, promises to generate much discussion.

The meeting is open to all interested educators, although places are limited. For more information, the Aulablog website can be consulted. The event will take place in Antequera, a city that once again demonstrates that its history can be the best laboratory for the future of education.
