Around thirty teachers from the Universidad Popular de Mijas participate in a training day on inclusion to prepare for the new term, which begins in September.
The teaching team of the Universidad Popular (UP) de Mijas held a training day focused on inclusive education this Monday, as part of the preparations for the start of the new term during the first half of September.
The councillors responsible for the UP and Social Inclusion, Silvia Marín and Mª Francisca Alarcón, explained that the aim is to learn how to properly support and attend to children with functional diversity. The day aims to eliminate barriers and provide the necessary support so that all children can participate on equal terms.
“The goal is to promote more inclusive environments by learning to adapt activities, communication, and spaces to the abilities and needs of each person, respecting their rhythms, autonomy, and different forms of participation,” Marín stated.
The training included participation from pediatric occupational therapist Elena Gómez, a specialist in Early Attention and Sensory Integration, who collaborates voluntarily, and psychologist Maruxela Moreno, from the municipal department of Social Inclusion.
Alarcón emphasized that with this initiative, the UP and the Department of Social Inclusion reinforce their commitment to a more accessible and respectful education for diversity. The teachers will continue with their training and class planning over the coming weeks.
