Since October 22, the Junta de Andalucía has opened the application period for individuals, municipalities, and energy communities to request grants aimed at improving energy efficiency and installing renewable energy in Málaga. This programme, managed by the Andalusian Energy Agency, has a budget of €20.77 million co-financed with European FEDER funds.

Programme objectives and types of actions

The programme “Residential sector and public buildings and installations” is designed to promote energy efficiency in homes and non-residential public buildings. Various actions can be carried out, such as:

  • Improvement of thermal insulation of facades and roofs
  • Replacement of windows with more efficient models
  • Installation of shading elements
  • Renewal of heating and lighting systems

To access the grants, the improvements must result in at least one letter improvement in the energy rating of the building. The incorporation of renewable energies is also contemplated, as long as they do not exceed 50% of the total project cost.

Details of the incentives

The minimum incentive to apply for is €10,000 for energy efficiency and €6,000 for solar technology. Citizens will benefit from a percentage of 50% of the investment, which can increase to 65% under certain conditions. For the private sector, incentives vary from 25% to 45%, depending on the type of company and additional conditions.

Moreover, those who install solar energy systems with storage will benefit from an increase in the incentive percentages. In the case of municipalities, efforts to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings can receive up to 80% support, depending on the incorporation of renewable energies and other requirements.

Finally, the process to apply for these grants is online and will be available until September 30, 2027, or until funds are exhausted.
