The Mijas Town Hall, through Operational Services, is renewing horizontal signage in various parts of the municipality to improve the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

The Mijas Town Hall has launched a plan to improve horizontal signage in different areas of the municipality, aiming to enhance the safety of both traffic and pedestrians. The work, which is being carried out with its own resources, has already begun in the car park at El Bombo beach, on Avenida de El Descubrimiento.

The councillor responsible for the Operational Services Area, Daniel Gómez, visited the area to supervise the actions. New signage has been painted there to reorganise the existing parking spaces, create new ones, and facilitate circulation.

Gómez explained that these tasks are part of the regular maintenance of signage carried out with internal resources and extend to different neighbourhoods and developments throughout the municipality. In recent days, workers have also intervened in La Ponderosa and Polarsol, where pedestrian crossings have been painted and repainted.

In Calahonda, the work has focused on the signage of driveways, motorcycle parking, and spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility. The councillor has announced that in the coming weeks the plan will focus on the areas around schools, in preparation for the start of the next academic year.

Subsequently, the actions will reach Mijas Pueblo, with special attention to key points such as the area around the Virgen de la Peña square. Additionally, Gómez has revealed that a contract with a specialised signage company will soon be initiated, and all interventions are carried out with the consensus of the Traffic and Public Roads department.
